What to Do when the Engine Fails

At present, most of the trucks use diesel engines, such as some dump trucks, tractor trucks and so on. Of course, there are also some light trucks and the mini trucks use gasoline engines. Diesel engines are widely used in trucks because of their large torque and simple structure, and they can adapt to harsh environments. These characteristics are exactly what trucks need, so they are widely used in trucks. Diesel engine failures are easy to identify. Today, I will talk about a few methods for judging engine failures.
 
1. Look at the instrument panel on the driver's seat. The faults displayed on the instrument panel are very accurate, so we should always pay attention to check the various parameters on the instrument while driving. 



2. Listen to the sound of the engine. Usually, the diesel engine is louder than the gasoline engine. When there is something wrong with the engine, the sound will also be louder. There are tricks to listening. We can listen to the abnormal sound to see whether it is regular. If the frequency of the abnormal sound is consistent with the frequency of the engine when working, then there is generally a problem with the engine body. If there is no regularity in the abnormal sound, and the sound happens from time to time, there is usually a problem with the engine accessories. 

3. Look at the color of the smoke from the exhaust pipe. Under normal circumstances, the color of the smoke emitted from the exhaust pipe is light gray, and the color of the truck may be heavier when the truck is just driving. When you step on the accelerator pedal hard, black smoke may also be emitted because the diesel is not fully burned, which is also normal. 
There will also be white smoke. As the temperature of the engine gradually rises, the white smoke will also turn into light gray. If the white smoke exist all the time, there is something wrong with the engine.
 


4. Disassemble and replace the parts. If we suspect there is a problem with a part, we can replace the same functional part on the truck and compare them to see if the fault changes with the change of the parts.
